Carole Ferrand named head of strategy and development at Galeries Lafayette’s holding company Motier

Another change in Motier’s top hierarchy. The family holding company that manages French retail groups Galeries Lafayette and La Redoute has appointed Carole Ferrand as head of strategy and development, a newly created post. Ferrand’s appointment comes a few days after Motier officialised a change at the very top, as Ginette Moulin handed over the presidency to Philippe Houzé, a member of the family’s next generation.

A graduate of the HEC business school in Paris, Ferrand has a 30-year-plus experience in the management consulting, corporate finance and mergers & acquisitions sectors. She began her career in 1992 at consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she worked for eight years before joining Sony France, where she held the post of secretary general.

From 2011 to 2013, Ferrand was the CFO of EuropaCorp, then she joined the Artemis group (the Pinault family's holding company) as CFO for five years. In 2018, she was appointed CFO at the Capgemini Group (digital services), a position she held until the end of 2023.

Ferrand has recently joined the board of directors of France Télévisions. Her mission at Motier is to “define and deploy Motier’s strategic vision, ensure the active management of portfolio holdings, and identify growth drivers and development opportunities for the future,” as Motier stated in a press release. New divestitures or acquisitions could perhaps be on the cards for Motier. 

The company was founded in 2005 and owns a 100 % stake in French retail groups Galeries Lafayette and La Redoute, and a minority stake in the Carrefour group. It also manages investment firm Motier Ventures, specialised in start-ups, and Motier Domaines, which owns vineyards and shares in other companies.
